This tour begins with city hotel pick-ups starting at 7:00 / 7:30 / 8:00 or 8:30 am. Starting this early you will avoid the traffic jam and enjoy more this activity.
When you arrive to the ramp, our boat captain will be waiting for you and navigate thru The Panama Canal Watershed which is a hydro-logically complex, ecologically diverse managed natural-artificial water resource system composed of many sub-basins, rivers, and dammed lakes extending across 2,982 km2 on both sides of the Panama Canal.
This is an amazing view of the Panama Canal from the inside, where you will be able to see this amazing large vessel crossing this water way.
Enjoy an up-close view of the abundant wildlife on the shores. We will visit the famous Monkey Islands where we can see capuchins, howlers, and tamarins.
After the boat ride, our guide will drive for about 45 minutes to the man-made lake to board a canoe for a 20-minute trip along the river, then stretch your legs on a short walk to a pond and waterfall.
Bring a bathing suit if you’d like to swim in the waterfall (depending on weather forecast), which is the perfect place to cool off from the tropical heat. Return to the canoe for the 25-minute ride to an Embera village: the Embera Indians have traditionally lived and worked at the edge of rivers, and are known throughout Panama for their distinctive songs, dances, and costumes.
You’ll have time to explore the village, get to know some local people, and learn about life in the Embera community. Sit down to a traditional Embera lunch, then watch a dance that depicts the Embera’s relationship with the natural world. Before departing the village, shop for traditional handicrafts and souvenirs made by the local people. Head back down the river by canoe, and meet the bus for the return trip to Panama City, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
Note: On this tour you might be merged with another group at the Embera site however you personal guide will be with your at all times and your transportation will still be private.
